An extension for a detached house in a scenic part of the Tas Valley. The project built upwards on an existing ground floor single storey element of house to create new bedroom and bathroom accommodation at first floor and link to the existing first floor accommodation.
The new project utilized a lightweight timber-frame construction to negate the need for additional work to the existing foundations. Cedar planking with Norfolk pantiles were used for the roof. A particular feature is the prominent balcony facing the garden and river with an external spiral staircase.
The project not only provides additional accommodation but improves the form and appearance of the house generally as well as strengthening its location on the site.
