The client wished to convert an impressive historic private house in grounds adjoining Wroxham Broad into a boutique hotel.
The project required very careful design to ensure that the current requirements in terms of fire protection and means of escape for hotels could be incorporated within the building without affecting its form and character or compromising its Listed Building status. The design ensured therefore that great consideration was given to the existing layout of the building whilst adapting it to create additional en-suite bathrooms, bedrooms and ancillary catering facilities. Often existing features were retained but necessarily concealed behind new stud walls to ensure as far as possible that the history of the building remained intact.
The project was eminently successful and won The Broadland Enhancement Award of High Commendation in 2008.
